Carlow’s first team wins in Division 6 and lost in LHK Insurance Middle Cup against Clontarf

On Saturday, Carlow 1 hosted Clontarf 4 for the Division 6 match in Carlow. Carlow won toss and fielded first in the reduced 35-over match due to the rain and thunderstorm in Carlow. Clontarf were all out with 114 runs in 26 overs. Carlow ballers had 9 Clontarf stump-out and one catch-out by Robi Alam in an extraordinary game. Before being taken out by Clontarf, Amir (52 runs) and Mainul (14 runs) set the pace to chase the Clontarf runs.  Carlow won with 8 wickets in 13.2 overs.

In the fixture between Carlow 1 and Clontarf 4 in T20 LHK Insurance Middle Cup, Carlow 1 travelled to Castle Avenue, Dublin. The hosts batted first and put on 143 – 8 in their allotted overs. Tariq Hussain top scored with 62 off 46 balls. Robi Alam took 3 wickets for 22 in 4 overs and Muhammad Javed had similar figures with 3 for 21. Carlow got off to a slow start, struggled to get going and were reduced to 19 for the loss of 5 wickets. They couldn’t recover and were dismissed for 82. Saqib Nagra, the captain, provided the most resistance with 26 off 21 balls. Clontarf were worthy winners on the day by 61 runs.

Carlow’s second team beats Balbriggan and Greystones in Ed Sports Russell Court Trophy B

In Ed Sports Russell Court Trophy B on Saturday, Carlow 2 won the toss and elected to bat first posting a total of 138 runs in 20 overs. In low scoring tight game Carlow managed to restrict Balbriggan to 132 runs, winning the match by 6 runs.

On the next day, Carlow 2 welcome Greystones for Ed Sports Russell Court Trophy at the ground of Carlow College, St. Patrick’s. The home team won the toss and chose to field restricting Greystones to 95 runs. Carlow 2 chase down the score in 18 overs winning the match by 4 wickets.
